Robert Lopez is the General Manager and Director of Hockey at OAK Orthopedic Sports Arena. Rob brings a wealth of talent and over thirty years of coaching experience to the Kankakee area. He has served as Head Coach and General Manager for the University of Washington Huskies Ice Hockey Club. As Head Coach for the University of Mexico, he developed a youth hockey program for the Pumas of U.N.A.M. The program grew from an enrollment of 125 students to over 900 in two years. During that time, he took all five age groups to nationals and won in each age category. Rob also developed a youth hockey program for the Houston Aeros of the IHL. As the Director of Hockey, he implemented programs that increased the membership from 100 to 500 students in a six month program. Since 1999 he has been the owner and chief executive officer of Pass the Puck, Inc., a practice drill Web site for hockey coaches. Currently, Passthepuck.com is used by over 700 coaches from 18 different countries.
Debbie Buchanan is the Day Manager and Director of Public Relations, as well as Schools On Ice Lead Instructor and Webmaster, at OAK Orthopedic Sports Arena. Debbie was born and raised in Chicago. She attended the University of Illinois Urbana-Champaign and graduated with a B.S. in Elementary Education. She is a certified educator who has 13 years of experience as an elementary teacher. Debbie was the captain of the University of Illinois Women's Hockey Team. She also skated 7 years with the Illinois Storm, a premier senior women's hockey team.
Jennifer Olson is a Figure Skating Instructor at OAK Orthopedic Sports Arena. Jennifer has been skating for the last 15 years and coaching for the past 5 years. Jennifer is from Bourbonnais. She has skated and coached at Homewood-Flossmoor since she started. Jennifer started skating at the age of 12 and has spent the past 5 years coaching. Jennifer’s skating achievements include passing her Intermediate Moves in the Field test, Bronze level ice dance test, and Pre- Juvenile freestyle test. She has also passed her bronze ISI judging test and completed a course on ice arena management, AIM, through ISI. Jennifer has taught many different types of classes over the last 5 years. Including footwork, basic hockey, power, axel workshop, and all levels of basic and freestyle skating classes. She has choreographed programs for several ice shows and students for competition and testing.
Angela Pace is the Evening and Weekend Manager and the Director of Operations, as well as a Figure Skating Instructor, at OAK Orthopedic Sports Arena. Angela was born and raised in Wheaton, Illinois, and moved to Kankakee five years ago. She attended Illinois State University and Kankakee Community College, majoring in Elementary Education, with a minor in Psychology. Angela has been skating for 17 years, and teaching 6 years. She has trained at Carol Stream Ice Arena (Carol Stream, Illinois), Center Ice of DuPage (Glen Ellyn, Illinois; she also taught there as well), and Seven Bridges Ice Arena (Woodridge, Illinois), and been taught by such acclaimed coaches as Paula Wagener, Kirk Langseth, Jo-Ann Zalewski, and Missy Motyka-Ciavarella. She has passed her Junior Moves In The Field, Novice Free Skate, and First Figures Test. She has taken power skating classes, aerobics on ice, choreography classes, ballet, kick boxing, jump workshops, and spin classes. Angela has taught all levels, and has prepared students for competitions and ice shows. Angela is a former ISI and USFSA member, and has been an active Professional Skaters Association (PSA) member since 2007.
