Q - |
My friends, family and I recently completed Learn to
Curl and loved it! We want to continue to work
on our skills and play a few ends.
How do I book ice for
curling?
|

A - |
OAK Arena has reserved
prime ice time for a Curling Game Play on Sunday nights from 5:00pm -
7:00pm. Curling Game Play is for curlers who have completed Learn
to Curl and are looking to play a few ends, as well as sharpen their
skills. The cost is $10 per person and includes two hours of ice
time and equipment usage.
The Monical's Pizza-OAK Arena Curling Club League will resume play
this fall! League play is
for curlers who have completed Learn to Curl or who have curling
league experience. You may register as a team, pairs, or as an
individual. Look for Fall League dates later this summer!
For more information about the Monical’s Pizza - OAK Arena Curling Club League, call (815)
939-1946. |

I
am interested in bringing my group out for an evening.
Would curling be an option for us?
|
|
A - |
Curling is a great way to improve
teamwork and boost morale in a fun and different atmosphere! Many
companies and organizations have found curling to be successful in three
key areas: team building, strategy skills, and recreational fun, much
like a golf outing. A business or group event consists of two hours of
on & off ice instruction and play. We will tailor your curling event
to meet your needs and will supply all of the necessary curling
equipment. Costs starts at just $20.00 per person! For available dates
and times, call OAK Arena at (815) 939-1946. |

I, like so many
others, watched curling during the Olympics and am thrilled to have a
chance to try it.
Is it any easier or
harder than it looks on TV?
|
|
A - |
Although often
compared to bowling, curling is more similar to shuffleboard or chess,
with players needing to use precision placement and strategy. It is a
game that requires balance, flexibility, and control. Players may walk
as much as 2 miles during a regular match! That being said, curling is
a sport for all ages, from 8 to 80 and beyond, and is played by both men
and women. People of all ages and ability levels are encouraged to
play. Currently, OAK Arena offers Learn to Curl for ages 13 & up, but
hope in time to offer “Little Rock” curling for ages 12 & under. All
participants under the age of 17 must be accompanied by an adult. |
